Social Support in the Transition to Parenthood Among Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Persons: A Systematic Review

Parenting is a challenging life-cycle transition, particularly for lesbian, gay, and bisexual (LGB) persons who have to deal with prejudice discrimination. Considering this position of social disadvantage the potential protective role support, our aim in work was systematize existing knowledge about support (i.e., family community LGBT engagement) transition parenthood among LGB persons. Through systematic review process conducted May 2019 using PRISMA guidelines, present study identified 22 manuscripts which accomplished all inclusion criteria. Our results suggested closer relationships origin detachment from stage life cycle. Furthermore, received seems influence not only psychological well-being these parents prospective but also quality their different networks. Thus, we understand that inclusive clinical human professional interventions aimed at improving available networks and, consequently, enhance psychosocial relations during transition.
